Hydration is an important element to any healthy lifestyle. I often go through phases when it comes to healthy bottled drinks. I’ve tried everything from Kombucha to kefir to POM to Naked Juice drinks. In fact, I remember when I had my first Naked Juice just over 20 years ago. Their slogan was “the pound promise” meaning every bottle contained one pound of “naked” fruit with no added sugar and no preservatives. Fast forward, Trader Joe’s introduces a delicious shelf stable organic green juice drink. Trader Joe’s doesn’t make the same “pound promise” with this green drink but I think it’s worthy of a try.
The Taste
Personally, I enjoy the earthy naturally sweet taste of To The Power of Seven Organic Green Juice.
Although it’s the 3rd ingredient by volume, the natural sweetness of the green apple juice is prominent. After that you taste the earthiness of the greens (kale, spinach and celery) followed by the spiciness of the ginger.
If you’re looking for a healthy tasting juice with a sweet grassy green flavor, you’ll be pleased. The flavor is reminiscent of a more balanced and sweeter wheatgrass flavor.
The juice also has quite a bit of body to it and that gives it a nice mouth feel. It’s not syrupy but it’s also not watered down. Make sure you give the bottle a good shake before each pour as some settling did occur.
The juice earns bonus points with me for the fact that it does not contain spirulina. It’s hard to find a green drink today without it and I’m not a huge fan.

Trader Joe’s Green Juice Nutrition Facts
If you’re like me when it comes to food, you pick it up off the shelf and before placing it into your cart immediately turn it around to scan the nutrition label.
One of the first things that jumped out at me was that the juice contained no added sugars. This was a big plus to me as a veggie & fruit drink shouldn’t have added sweetener. The natural flavors of the fruits and vegetables should be allowed to shine.
In an 8oz (240 mL) serving, To the Power of Seven Green Juice contains:
- Calories: 90
- Sugar: 16g (no added sugars)
- Carbohydrates: 21g
- Fiber: 0g
- Iron: 2.5mg
Since it’s only the juice and no pulp there are zero grams of fiber.
Location in Trader Joe’s
To the Power of Seven Organic Green Juice can be found in the unrefrigerated bottle drinks section near the lemonade, iced tea and apple juice varieties. In my local Trader Joe’s this is on the back wall, about mid-store from right to left.
Do I Really Want to Drink Pasteurized Vegetable Juice?
Another thing I noticed about the green juice is that it’s “pasteurized”. I thought to myself, wouldn’t the pasteurization process of heating the juice to 135°F (57°C) remove most of the vitamins and minerals that we want in the first place?
Believe it or not, even cold pressed juices can be pasteurized and many are.
Yes, it’s possible that the pasteurization process can alter the nutritional profile of food but often the difference between pasteurized and unpasteurized is negligible.
Pasteurization can even help retain certain nutrients in some cases.
The reason the juice is pasteurized is to keep it free of pathogens that can cause foodborne illnesses. Another advantage is that it makes the green juice shelf stable for over a year unopened.
Is Trader Joes Green Juice Healthy?
But It Contains Celery Juice, Does That Make This Green Juice Safe to Drink?
Did I really just type that? Is Green Juice safe to drink?
Are carrots healthy? I mean C’mon.
OK I’m not going to break down each ingredient for its nutritional properties, but I felt I had to address just one.
And yes, there is no denying that there are drinks out there masquerading as healthy that are loaded with sugar but that’s not the case here.
We’re talking about the “knock” on celery juice. It was my understanding that celery was full of nutrients with anti-inflammatory properties.
During the writing of this review, I came across a food grade of “C” for To the Power of Seven Organic Green Juice on fooducate.com. The main reason for the downgrade was that the green juice contains nitrates from the celery juice. They are essentially including celery in the same category as processed meats here.
I am not claiming to have a PhD in nutrition or chemistry, but I believe this is spreading misinformation. Raw vegetables including spinach and celery may contain natural sources of nitrates which when converted into nitric oxide by your body can have positive effects on heart health.
Trader Joe’s Green Juice Price
A 33.8 FL Oz bottle of To the Power of Seven Organic Green Juice sells for $4.99 (a hefty increase from it’s old price at $3.99 but still kind of a bargain). With a serving size equaling 8oz you’ll get just over 4 servings of green juice from the bottle or $1.25 per serving. That’s a lot of mileage out of a bottle for an organic juice beverage when you compare it to your local juice or smoothie spot.
Is Trader Joes Green Juice Power of 7 Discontinued?
Over the years there have been rumors swirling around the internet that Trader Joe’s has discontinued its green juice. I recently purchased a bottle of To the Power of Seven Green Juice from our local store in December 2022 so for you green juice lovers it’s still out there. Go out and get one! And if you like it, stock up since the shelf life is nice and long.
Final Thoughts
Whether it’s to supplement some veggies for the day or to cut down on your intake of fruit juices, Trader Joe’s To the Power of Seven Green Juice checks a few boxes. It’s low cal compared to other juices, it contains no added sugar and it doesn’t taste like a fresh mowed lawn unlike some other green drinks on the market. While it is shelf stable and will last a while before opening, Trader Joe’s recommends that you refrigerate it after opening and consume it within 5 days. Happy Drinking!
